Tom Petty grew up just 2 hours away from us – in Gainesville. Although he and his family had little to do with the goings-on at the University of Florida while he was growing up, he has said if he had to choose a college team to root for, it would be the Florida Gators.
As a Florida alumna, I can tell you that simply attending that school makes you a Petty fan. It was so cool to walk around the city and know that he walked those same streets as a boy before anybody knew who he was.

TMZ is reporting that Tom Petty was found unconscious and not breathing at his Malibu home last night.
The website reports that paramedics were able to get a pulse and transported him to UCLA where was placed on life support, “according to sources”.

The City Beautiful is beginning to stink. Hurricane Irma, the gift that keeps on giving.
The City of Orlando said the amount of yard debris littering roadways is more than the amount they would normally pick up in 4-and-a-half years! So, even with crews working 7 days a week, it’s going to take several weeks before they get to all of it.
If you really want it gone, some cities and municipalities have opened drop-off locations for residents.
